FAQ

Common questions about horse physiotherapy

What disciplines do you treat?
We work with showjumpers, eventers, dressage horses, endurance and racing horses, polo ponies, working horses, leisure horses, and young horses in early training. Every discipline has unique biomechanical demands, and treatment is tailored accordingly.
Do you treat at my stable?
Yes — we are fully mobile and treat at your stable or yard across Abu Dhabi. Seeing the horse in its normal environment gives us the best picture of posture, movement, and any management factors that may contribute to issues.
How often should my horse see a physiotherapist?
Every horse is different. Factors such as age, discipline, workload, previous injuries, and current health status can all influence how often physiotherapy is recommended. Following assessment, a tailored treatment and review plan will be developed based on your horse's individual needs and goals.
Is a vet referral needed?
Veterinary consent may be required depending on your horse's condition and medical history. Horses recovering from injury or surgery, undergoing investigation for lameness, or presenting with neurological signs will typically require veterinary involvement before physiotherapy can commence. Where appropriate, we work closely with your veterinarian to ensure treatment is safe, effective, and aligned with your horse's overall treatment.
What does an equine assessment involve?
A full session includes static and dynamic assessment (at walk and trot), palpation of muscles, joints and soft tissues, range-of-motion testing, and a review of the horse's work routine. We then treat and provide a plan for owners, riders, and vets.
Can physio help with performance issues?
Absolutely. Subtle asymmetries, muscle imbalances, and restricted range of motion often show up as performance problems before they become injuries. Regular physiotherapy can improve movement quality, power, and comfort, giving a competitive edge.
